From humble beginnings, Daro was born. Formed in 1972 by Brother-in laws (Da)vid Brown and (Ro)ger Rideout from a traditional market stall set up, they began their journey with the sales of traditional rush matting and rattan home accessories such as: waste bins and log baskets.
Cane and rattan is a popular material for use in furniture production because it won’t fade, is eco-friendly, easy to clean, lightweight and is highly flexible so it can be manipulated into many shapes when steamed during the manufacturing process. The trend for cane and rattan furniture ensued, so Daro progressed into developing a range of occasional furniture that could be used in sunrooms and a new phenomenon called a Conservatory. Over the years, Daro continued to expand their product offering in tandem with the Conservatory market to develop an ever increasingly comfortable collection of conservatory furniture.
In 2003, Daro extended their skills of producing high quality indoor woven furniture by creating a range of outdoor lounging and dining products.
Today, Daro continues to be a family run business and is the United Kingdom’s leading name in woven furniture. Our incredibly popular product portfolio features a comprehensive selection of ranges designed to accommodate both the traditional and modern home and garden.
All of our frames are beautifully handcrafted in Indonesia using a variety of high quality cane and rattan materials. They are then upholstered in our UK soft furnishings factory using high grade fabrics in a vast array of colours and patterns on a made-to-order basis.
As well as our main collection, Daro is also excited to offer its Fresco Collection, an in-stock outdoor product range that is available for customer purchase immediately. Our Fresco Collection can be purchased in a limited choice of weaves and fabrics of which come complete with weather covers.
Daro are also proud to offer the extended Laura Ashley Indoor and outdoor ranges which are sold through Daro retailers utilising fabrics and inspiration from this iconic British brand.
