Conservatories are treasured by home owners because they offer lots of natural sunlight and warmth. Often, they overlook the garden and provide a haven to kick back and put your feet up. Furthermore, adding a conservatory to your house provides an extra room to your house that can be used for lounging, dining, family, a sun room or even an office.

Typically, conservatories are furnished with cane, rattan or wicker furniture. A good choice as the frames are lightweight and the cushions upholstered to suit your style. The intricate weave used in the design of cane and rattan frames adds texture and depth. Using natural materials brings the feeling of the outdoors in. However, given that the conservatory is usually a room that enjoys the sun for large parts of the day, it is common to experience furniture fading in your conservatory. As well as fading of carpets, upholstery and other furnishings. Protect your furnishings in a conservatory, as continued exposure to sunlight can cause damage and warping to your furniture especially with the sun and heat at full strength.

This handy guide will help give advice for protecting your furniture from fading in your conservatory. Preserving the life (and colour) of your interior decor for longer.

1. Rotate your furniture

Rotate your furniture to ensure all sides have an even exposure to the sun. Conservatory furniture frames are strong and robust, yet lightweight making them easy to move around your space. Make sure you do not drag your furniture as this can scratch or mark your floor. Although conservatory furniture is strong and durable, woven furniture can dry out and could end up breaking because of prolonged exposure to sunlight. Prolong the life of your conservatory furniture with proper care and maintenance. Use our Daro Care Kit to help clean and maintain your furniture.

2. Cushions

All our cushions are made in the UK, at our Soft Furnishings factory based in Derbyshire. Our cushions are reversible, so can be rotated to ensure even wear. This also minimises fading and discolouration to your cushions. Rotate your cushions periodically to ensure even wear. Daro offers a Cushion Replacement Service where you can update the cushions on your Daro suite by having new cushion covers made. We have a vast range of indoor fabrics available to suit any style and taste. Take advantage of our free swatch service to order 6 free swatches to help you choose the right fabric for your furniture. Order your swatches from our Daro website or through your local stockist.

3. Blinds

Install blinds in your conservatory. This can reduce the sun’s exposure to your frames and cushions. Choose blinds that have a fade resistant and/or UV resistant fabric if possible, as this can also add that little bit more protection.

4. Daro Care Kit

Daro Care Kit contains specialist products for the care and maintenance of your cane and rattan furniture. Kit includes: 200ml Fabric Protector, 50ml Fresh Stain Remover, 50ml Grease & Oil Stain Remover, 250ml Furniture Cleaner, sponges and microfibre cloths.
