How to maintain your swivel rocker mechanism

Removing the mechanism for replacement or maintenance

Firstly, make sure you put a protective sheet down underneath the chair whilst carrying out any maintenance  in order to protect the floor you are working on.

 

1. Gently place your swivel rocker on its side.

2.  Loosen the four bolts located underneath the swivel rocker chair using a spanner.

3. Carefully remove the base and set it to one side.

4. Apply spray lubricant/grease to the mechanism without detaching mechanism from the frame

5. Locate the tilt pins and carefully apply spray lubricant, making sure you apply the lubricant to the pins on both sides.

6. Apply additional spray lubricant to the white ring that contain the bearings.

7.  Replace the base in the reverse order that you removed it.

Removing the mechanism

1.Gently place your swivel rocker on its side.

2. Loosen the four bolts located underneath the swivel rocker chair using a spanner and make a note of the washer order.

3. Carefully remove the base and set it to one side. Locate the tilt pins and carefully spray lubricant on both sides of the mechanism. Wipe away any excess lubricant with a soft, clean cloth. Apply spray lubricant to the white ring under the plate where the bearings are situated.

Reattaching the mechanism

Make sure that the larger springs are located at the front of the chair with the smaller springs at the back. Take a note of how the washers are aligned. Place the washers in the following order:

  • Rubber
  • Metal
  • Spring Washer
  • Nut

Reattaching the base

Take a note of how the washers are aligned.

Line up the base unit with the bolts and attach a metal and rubber washer. Tighten with a spring washer and a nut.
